CaTSS (participation)

Between October 2016 and March 2018, JCDI contributed to the Care and Treatment for Sustained Support (CaTSS) project, a USAID-funded initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s HIV/AIDS response. JCDI’s role was centered around Sokoto State, where the organization supported community outreach, awareness, and referral services.

The project focused on scaling up access to HIV counselling, testing, and treatment services, with a special emphasis on high-risk populations and those with limited access to health facilities. JCDI facilitated linkages between communities and service providers, ensuring that people who tested positive were enrolled in care and treatment programs without delay.

In addition, the organization contributed to stigma reduction campaigns, empowering people living with HIV to seek care without fear of discrimination. Through training sessions, community dialogues, and advocacy with traditional and religious leaders, JCDI helped create an enabling environment for HIV prevention and treatment.

Although JCDI’s role was within a broader consortium, the organization’s grassroots experience was vital in ensuring that project interventions were community-centered and responsive to local needs.
