TB Reach Project (Plan International)

Under the TB Reach Project funded by Plan International, JCDI expanded its TB response across four LGAs: Kware, Gwadabawa, Goronyo, and Dangeshuni. The project combined TB detection with broader public health goals, including COVID-19 prevention and child safeguarding.

Community-Based Health Volunteers (CBHVs) were trained to conduct house-to-house TB searches, screen community members, and refer suspected cases for testing. Alongside this, JCDI integrated COVID-19 prevention sensitization, making the project a dual-response initiative that addressed two public health emergencies simultaneously.

Another important component was the training of trainers (TOT) for JCDI staff on safeguarding and child protection. This ensured that health interventions were implemented with a strong emphasis on protecting vulnerable children from abuse and neglect.

The TB Reach Project demonstrated the value of integrating TB interventions with broader community health education. It built trust, improved service uptake, and strengthened community resilience in the face of multiple health threats.
