  3. Community Development Associations formation & support

As of December 2010, JCDI organized and supported a network of Community Development Associations (CDAs) across Sokoto State. These associations included widows’ groups, sanitation committees, and health-focused organizations that collectively worked on improving community welfare.

JCDI’s role was both advisory and supportive. The organization guided CDAs in creating annual work plans, provided small grants or materials such as cleaning tools and tree seedlings, and facilitated training in leadership and organizational management.

Through this support, communities became more empowered to take responsibility for their development. Local groups organized regular sanitation drives, ran tree planting campaigns, and engaged in health education. These grassroots efforts ensured that development was not just imposed externally but owned by the people themselves.

The CDA initiative strengthened community cohesion, encouraged volunteerism, and created a foundation for long-term sustainability of health and environmental projects across multiple LGAs.
